In this week’s episode of The Hard Drive I take a dive into the world of Math Rock, one of my favourite genres. Kicking things off with the band that started it all, Minus The Bear, I’ll be taking you on a journey across the globe from the UK to France, to Japan and to the States.
If you’re new to the genre, Math Rock is essentially the catch-all description for bands that use odd time signatures, a lot of intricate tapping, and have a generally complex song structure. While mostly instrumental at its core, there are a number of bands that also throw vocals into the mix, which is refreshing.
