Update: I’ve pulled the trigger and scheduled this EP for release – and chanced the name, too. It’s set to land on May 26 on all platforms, or you can pre-order now on Bandcamp and get the first track instantly!
Honestly, I’m so bad at naming music I’ve created. Most of my work in progress song files are named something dumb like “sparkle” and “liver”, so when it comes to actually finalising a project I usually hit a roadblock of what exactly to call each track and the overall EP or album it comes from.
Since the last band I participated in didn’t go to plan, I’ve found myself working on four different musical projects, one of which is a math-rock/post-rock band I’m calling Let It Eat You For Fun.
Let It Eat You For Fun is something I’ve wanted to work on for a while but never really had the gear, inspiration, or knowledge to do so, until now. It’s a weird blend of inspirations including Explosions in the Sky, God is an Astronaut, If These Trees Could Talk, toe, And So I Watch You From Afar, and Giraffes?! Giraffes!!.
Some tracks lean more toward the math-rock side of things with weird tapping and odd time signatures, others are more slow-building tracks that explode into an epic crescendo.
I’ve been working on these tracks for the better part of a year now, finishing and revisiting each track tweaking bits here and there, re-tracking guitar and bass, and adjusting the drums in a way that no one will really notice, so it’s about time that I put something of these out to the world.
I’m yet to have these songs at a point of an official release (the track There’s Method in this Madness is way quieter than the previous two tracks, for example) I think I need to share them in some form to rip the bandaid off, so to speak.
So here we go: Let It Eat You For Fun – I Want To Fly The Plane.
